“The Gold Standard” is about to be set in WWE.

According to a report from PWInsider, former Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin will finally be making his return to the company. As of now, there is no official return date announced, or to what brand he will be appearing on, however one WWE source stated that it would be “soon.”

Benjamin was scheduled to sign with the company last summer, and WWE ran a promotional video announcing his return, which you can see below:

However, during the pre-signing medical testing process, the company learned that he had a torn rotator cuff and would be unable to compete.

During his initial tenure with WWE, Benjamin was a United States Champion, a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion as one-half of the “World’s Greatest Tag Team,” and a three-time Intercontinental Champion.

Editor’s Note:

YES! I was a fan of “The Gold Standard” growing up, and always thought that his ring presence and charisma were excellent. This will be a great thing for the company, and I cannot wait to see what he will do upon his return. Ain’t no stopping him!
