Backstage News on Pre-Pregnancy MITB Plans For Becky Lynch

As previously reported, Becky Lynch announced that she was pregnant this past Monday on Raw with her first child. She was the Raw Women’s Champion and relinquished the title to Asuka, who is now the champion.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original booking plan for Money in the Bank was for Lynch to wrestle Nia Jax in a singles match and retain the title. Shayna Baszler was originally booked to win the MITB ladder match and be The Man’s main rival for the title.

Jax returned on the Raw after Wrestlemania and was pushed as a monster at about the same time. Both Jax and Baszler were focused on a match with Lynch on that show, after Lynch defeated The Queen of Spades at Wrestlemania.

I am beyond thrilled for Lynch and Seth Rollins with the introduction of their first child into the world. Also, I can think of no one more deserving than Asuka right now to carry the torch for the Raw Women’s Division, as her work has been absolutely incredible in 2020. It was a special moment between two friends who love and care about each other on Raw this past week, and I was thrilled to see it!
