Finn Balor’s Attacker Revealed

So it was you! One of the better story tropes in wrestling is the mystery attacker. Either someone puts on a mask to attack another person or someone is found after having been attacked or something something similar. Either way, it can be quite a great way to advance a feud as the whodunit aspect is one of the best things that you can see. This week provided the payoff for the most recent usage of the story.

Back in April, Finn Balor was attacked by a mystery assailant in the NXT locker room. The attack knocked him out of a scheduled match with Velveteen Dream and sent Balor in a new direction. He wanted to know who attacked him so he could get some revenge, meaning the hunt was on. It didn’t take that long though, as Balor’s attacker has already been revealed.

During this week’s NXT, Damian Priest was revealed as Balor’s attacker. Priest interrupted Balor’s match against Cameron Grimes and cost Balor the win before attacking him again. This included putting a chair over Balor’s throat and sitting on it ala Triple H vs. Undertaker in 2001. With Balor down, Priest announced that he was the person who attacked Balor in the first place.

Opinion: That could make for an interesting Takeover match as Balor slowly continues to move towards being a face again. This gives him a reason to fight and Priest has shown what he can do against a lot of opponents. Hopefully we get to see both guys showcase themselves as Balor looks to be on the verge of moving up the NXT ladder in a pretty big way.
