He can be a little out there. Vince McMahon may be the most powerful man in all of wrestling but it doesn’t make him any less insane. There are times where you never know what he is going to do from one minute to the other and it has changed the way WWE works more than once. That was the case again on Monday, though you might not have noticed it.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins and Murphy lost a tag match to Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black via disqualification when Rollins broke up a 619. It wasn’t exactly clear why the DQ took place, as it wasn’t anything that extreme and Rollins was disqualified for merely grabbing Mysterio instead of actually hurting him in any significant way. It turns out that McMahon had something to do with the ruling.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, McMahon’s rule for a tag match says that a tag team can double team a wrestler for five seconds but after that time is up, a disqualification will be called. Illegal wrestlers can brawl and an illegal wrestler can break up a pin attempt without violating the rule. As a result of this rule, several tag team spots have been banned because they would take too long.
It was a heck of a match. Check out how the match went down:
Opinion: That is a rule that makes sense as it feels like something that takes place in traditional tag team wrestling. It didn’t make for the best result of the tag match because commentary didn’t exactly make the reason for the DQ clear. Rollins did interfere, but it wasn’t exactly enough for a DQ. If you want to make this a rule then fine, but make it clear that the rule exists.
Do you like the rule? Will it continue to be enforced? Let us know in the comments below.
