Alberto Del Rio has had a tumultuous year. Since being released by the WWE in September, he has ran the gamut of trouble. He has no showed events. He has even gotten caught in an actual fight with another wrestler backstage at another event, claiming that his adversary had groped his girlfriend.

Despite this, he has done well for himself in this period. He has found work heading up Combate Americas. Plus, it honestly looks like he has put his stint with the WWE behind him. When interviewed on Busted Open on SiriusXM, he had this to say about the WWE:

“To be honest, I think they need me more than I need them. That’s the reason they didn’t want me to leave, because they don’t have anyone to represent the Latin culture, the Latin market in the company.”

The WWE has had difficulty actually replacing Del Rio since his release in order to appeal to the Latin market. But with Del Rio’s past and his current success, there is no reason for them to even remotely pursue him. And further, with all this great talent coming out of the Latin American market such as Lucha Underground, there is absolutely no reason they shouldn’t have already found someone.
