The 2014 “TLC” pay-per-view, now branded as “Tables, Ladders, Chairs, and… Stairs” by WWE, occurred on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014. The event was held in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Quicken Loans Arena. It would feature the return of a main event superstar, Roman Reigns.
The man who won the 2014 Slammy Award for Superstar of the Year, leading some to speculate the voting was rigged, was involved in the Tables match between John Cena and Seth Rollins. Towards the late stages of the entire bout, the match was restarted after Cena and Rollins went through two tables simultaneously.
Soon after the match restarted, Big Show appeared, looking to cost John Cena his number-one contender status to Brock Lesnar’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Show’s plans would be foiled by a returning Roman Reigns, who speared Show through a table. Reigns also targeted Rollins, allowing Cena to give Rollins an “Attitude Adjustment” for the victory.
With the victory, Cena will now face WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at the 2015 “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view, which emanates from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It will be the third time Cena has faced Lesnar in the wrestling season, as Lesnar bested Cena at “SummerSlam,” winning the title, and retained his title the next month at “Night of Champions.”
