Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan has made it pretty clear — he wants to wrestle again, and he may end up doing just that when his WWE contract expires next year.
When asked about a potential in-ring return during an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this week, Bryan said “I’m working on it.” So, it’s pretty clear that he is planning on returning to the ring at some point.
According to Cageside Seats, Bryan has gotten a few more tests done, and apparently, they went pretty well, which is why he said that he’s working on an in-ring return.
Due to the medical advice of their head of medical, Dr. Joseph Maroon, WWE decided to not allow Bryan to wrestle again, as he had along history with concussions, and after fighting with the company over their decision for nearly a year, the current SmackDown GM decided to retire in his home state of Washington.
Opinion: A Daniel Bryan in-ring return for WWE could very well depend on how New Japan Pro Wrestling’s United States expansion goes, because if Bryan leaves WWE, that’s where he’ll go. If NJPW is hot in the US by the time his contract comes to an end next year, WWE might change their stance on Bryan wrestling again.
If Bryan does wrestle again, he’ll have to get clearance from Dr. Joseph Maroon, because it wouldn’t make WWE look very good if they went against their head of medical’s advice.
