A few months ago, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter broke the news that Roman Reigns will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at next year’s WrestleMania. However, it looks like WWE has changed that plan, as Reigns will challenge for the title at SummerSlam.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE has changed their plans because they want to get the Universal Championship back on television, as they believe that it’ll help boost Raw’s weekly rating. If that ends up being the case, then expect Reigns to defeat Lesnar, or possibly Joe, at SummerSlam in August.

As of right now though, Reigns is scheduled to face Braun Strowman at next month’s WWE Great Balls of Fire show in an ambulance match.

Originally, Strowman was supposed to face Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire, but WWE called the match off due to Strowman’s elbow injury.
