Former Women’s Champion Making the Jump to MMA?

When people talk about WWE superstars who could successfully make the move to mixed martial arts, they bring up names like Jack Swagger, Jason Jordan, and Chad Gable. But one name they never bring up is former Divas Champion Paige, who, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, is interested in pursuing an MMA career.

On Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Paige is looking at beginning a career in mixed martial arts.

“[Paige] is starting to think about training for MMA. So she’s got that.”

Paige, who is 24 years old, has been out of action for quite some time now due to a neck injury. Prior to her surgery, she had failed two WWE wellness tests, which resulted in her being suspended for 60 days. The suspension didn’t matter though, as she was out with an injury during that time.

Alberto Rodriguez, formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE, is now the president of Combate Americas, which is a small MMA promotion. He’s also engaged to Paige, so the ex-Divas champ may be looking to join her fiance’s promotion.
