Last month, the Nevada Athletic Commission fined Brock Lesnar $250,000 and suspended him for one year because of his two failed drug tests leading up to this past July’s UFC 200. But, at least until Wednesday, the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) hadn’t handed the current WWE superstar his punishment.
Typically, under USADA’s current rules, a first time drug test failure warrants a two-year suspension. But, the agency decided to suspend Lesnar for only one year, which means that he’ll be able to return to the UFC next July.
Lesnar tested positive for a substance known as clomiphene, which is an estrogen blocker that an athlete typically takes after a steroid cycle.
Even though he was suspended and fined by the Nevada Athletic Commission, Lesnar’s current employer — World Wrestling Entertainment — decided to not punish him, despite the fact that he’s clearly violating the company’s wellness policy.

Lesnar’s win over Mark Hunt at UFC 200 was changed to a no contest as a result of his drug test failure and suspension. As of this writing, the former UFC heavyweight champion hasn’t announced his retirement from mixed martial arts, which means that he’s still eligible to be randomly tested by USADA.
