In just a few weeks, Seth Rollins will finally return to WWE programming. Earlier this week, there was a rumor that he could return as early as the June 6th edition of Monday Night Raw only a week after John Cena’s return.
Everyone has been so preoccupied about when Rollins will return that few have truly questioned what he’ll do once he returned to the ring. Well, it seems like he could just pick up where he left off.
According to an article from the Inquisitir.com, there is the possibility of Seth Rollins returning to Raw and SmackDown as a heel again.
It’s just generally been assumed that Rollins would return as a face because the crowd would turn him into a face after he comes back.
The momentum of his return and his talent would automatically turn him. Absence makes the heart grow fonder kind of thing.
However, if you look at the roster, the question arises if turning him face is the best move for the roster. At the main event level, the heels on the roster are Kevin Owens, Bray Wyatt, Chris Jericho, and arguably Sheamus.
With John Cena returning in less than two weeks, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and arguably Brock Lesnar will be the faces on the main roster. There is a lot of talk about Finn Balor coming up from the main roster too, but we don’t know if he’ll be a face or a heel.
The WWE Universe’s reaction to Roman Reigns makes this an interesting dynamic, but if Rollins comes to claim his title immediately upon his return, that may just turn him face and the foil to Roman.
Maybe, the face and heel roles don’t matter as much as they used to even a few years ago. Regardless, we’re going to find out really quick which way the wind is blowing for Seth Rollins.
Do you think Seth Rollins should return as a face or a heel?
