Report: Melina Replaced For Lucha Underground Season Two

The last show of Lucha Underground historic first season was called, “Ultima Lucha”. At that event, Alberto El Patron was in a war with Johnny Mundo, and the two finally settled their issues in the ring.

The end of the match saw Melina return to Mundo’s side after years away. Mundo got the win and the love of his life back all in one fell swoop.

Even though El Patron got his revenge by throwing Mundo through Dario Cueto’s office window and spanked her for costing him the match, Season Two would have seen Melina and Mundo reunited.

Unfortunately, Melina will not be able to stay at Johnny Mundo’s side because she has been replaced by Taya Valkyrie. The explanation given from the report was that Melina was “extremely hard to work with in LU”.

When the news broke of the former WWE Diva’s behavior costing her a spot in Lucha Underground’s second season, she took to Twitter to respond with the following:

According to ProWrestlingSheet, Lucha Underground’s producers attempted to sign a long-term deal with Melina before “Ultima Lucha”, but she was only willing to sign for the finale.

Reportedly, the producers weren’t interested in pairing Melina with Johnny Mundo for long because their affiliation was already well known from the work they did together in WWE.

Both sides just couldn’t come to an agreement for the second season in time for the tapings, so Taya Valkyrie has been selected as her replacement.
