Personally, I’d love to be inside a WWE officials meeting when they’re talking about Becky Lynch because it would give me a lot of insight into what their logic is behind her booking.
I look at Becky Lynch and see a huge star for the Women’s division. Women’s wrestling in WWE needs a strong face. WWE has never had an issue creating big heels in the division, but faces have been few and far between.
Obviously, Charlotte is the current WWE Women’s Champion and the present. Of course, Sasha Banks is the future face of women’s wrestling for the company, but where does that leave Lynch in the long run?
Back in NXT, Becky Lynch has getting hugely over. She never got a run with the NXT Women’s Championship before being called up to the main roster last August.
No one is complaining because we got Bayley’s run instead, but that shows a lot about Lynch’s value to the powers the be. You could look at that as a vote of confidence because she doesn’t need a title to get over, but isn’t that the opposite logic every wrestler has ever used?
She’s been booked as odd and unique, but still a good wrestler. In my opinion, Becky is the one who came out of the triple threat match at Wrestlemania 32 looking better than Banks and Charlotte, yet she has nothing to show for it.
Instead, her character has been booked as a solid face, who keeps befriending the wrong people. Paige turned on her. Soon after, Charlotte turned on her, and Natalya just did the same thing at “Money in the Bank.”
She doesn’t look as strong because she keeps being booked as the victim and never gets the payoff to beat these women who betray her. Meanwhile, she’s losing clean matches to Dana Brooke to put her over and WWE officials are debating about turning her heel? What is WWE doing with Becky Lynch?
There is so much potential for a face run, which is exactly what that division needs right now. Lynch vs. Natalya will do a lot for her, but they’re going to have to give her a real chance and feature her in a better light.
Do you think Becky Lynch is being misused right now?
