Last month, Eva Marie got suspended for violating the WWE Wellness Policy. Regardless of the reason why, she has been off SmackDown television right in the middle of a push, which is the big problem.
Before her suspension, Eva Marie was being booked for matches before they were cancelled for one reason or another. It was a good angle that would have most likely led to her in-ring debut at “Backlash.”
When SmackDown’s new Women’s Championship was officially introduced, the expectation was that Eva Marie was going to be the first woman to hold the title. Her suspension put those plans to bed.
After her return to SmackDown, it will be curious to see what WWE has planned for her because she was expected to get a major push, but have those plans changed after the suspension?
As of this writing, it seems like Nikki Bella is going to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship at “Backlash” on Sunday, so the potential for Eva vs. Nikki is high, especially now that Bella is a face.
Another question is how much longer WWE will prolonge Eva’s in-ring debut once she returns because the momentum from delaying it ever week could be gone after taking a month away from the angle.
