However, it doesn’t have to be that way. In my opinion, the effort should be put forth to utilize anyone on the roster as much as possible. Daniel Bryan is a household name. He has wrestled a little as four months in the last twenty-four, yet he’s still a top face in WWE.
That’s fan loyalty that only a handful of performers have ever had in this business. It’s a complete waste and a tragedy for Daniel Bryan to be sitting on the sidelines whether he can wrestle or not. Honestly, WWE should pull a page out of the old playbook to bring Bryan back from the dead.

Back in 1997, Owen Hart botched a Piledriver and almost paralyzed Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was unfortunate, but at the same time, it added even more fuel to the Stone Cold rocket that was launching to superstardom.
People forget that the Austin vs. McMahon originally started because of that neck injury. The story went that Austin would cause so much chaos and interfere in situations because Vince refused to medically clear him to compete and regain the Intercontinental Championship.
Stone Cold’s popularity sourced because of his unpredictability, attitude, and anti-authority persona. Mostly, fans related to him because he was being held down and was willing to fight to prove that he was the best in the world. Does this sound familiar to the present day?

You can’t tell me that if Daniel Bryan made a surprise return to Monday Night Raw in a few days, did a similar schtick, and locked Vince Mcmahon in the “Yes Lock” that the arena wouldn’t go absolutely bananas.
WWE is infamous for bringing back old tricks. They’re bringing back one right now to get Roman Reigns over via Triple H and the WWE title. I like Roman Reigns a lot, but the natural flow of WWE is begging for Daniel Bryan to be the anti-authority figure, not Roman Reigns.
There is still a ton of money in Daniel Bryan and seeing him sporadically on Total Divas isn’t doing anyone any favors when he belongs in a WWE ring one way or another.
The potential for Bryan to come out and make his claim is good television because it plays with the reality of the situation. There is nothing fake about it. It would also be able to get Daniel Bryan back to television and into something that may not require him to wrestle.
This storyline could be very similar to Cena vs. Rock. It wouldn’t have to happen every week, but every so often it would feature a segment until WWE felt really comfortable allowing Bryan to wrestle. Then suddenly, Bryan isn’t going back into the fray with no momentum.
In my opinion, I’d rather get a real and honest storyline involving Daniel Bryan’s injury status than continue to wait and watch as one of the best wrestlers I’ve ever seen slowly dies.
