Japanese wrestling superstar Jushin “Thunder” Liger has been wrestling for decades. There isn’t a big promotion that he hasn’t wrestled and found great success in and that includes WCW, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and several others.
Last year, Liger made his debut in WWE during NXT Takeover: Brooklyn in the opening match with Tyler Breeze. It won’t go down as the greatest match of his career, but it was surreal to see him in NXT and it was a rare treat.
He’s been wrestling since 1984 when he was twenty years old. His career has spanned over four decades and multiple generations of wrestling fans.
Father time catches up to every single one of us, and although it’s hard to prove it, Jushin Liger is human too, and he’ll have to retire from the ring eventually.
According to Japanese wrestling reporter Enuhito, Liger recently claimed that he will retire from the ring within the next five years. The following tweets were sent out by Enuhito about Liger’s inevitable retirement:

Of course, that is pretty vague, but Liger just turned fifty-one this past Sunday and five years is a long time for him to be still wrestling.
No matter what, Liger said he is entering the last chapter of his career, and that is going to be a big celebration of four decades of work from one of the most important wrestlers of all time.
