At the height of Bill Goldberg’s wrestling career, he was as red-hot as Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock in the early years of the Attitude Era.
The problem Goldberg faced was inexperience in the business and not being able to sustain his momentum after his epic WCW winning streak was broken, which was an impossible task for anyone.
Although Goldberg was a heel for a few brief stints in WCW, it never really caught on due to a lack of momentum and it was something Goldberg never wanted to do to in the first place.
Recently, the former WCW and WWE Champion was a guest on the latest episode of the “Stone Cold Podcast” to discuss wrestling, his promotional work for WWE2K17, and much more.
You can listen to the full podcast episode right here. Below is what Goldberg had to say about the heel run that never was in his wrestling career:
“The heel run, I didn’t want to do it to begin with because of the kid thing. I did so much with Make-A-Wish. I did a lot of stuff, man, to where I knew it would crush these kids’ hearts. Ironically, the night that I turned heel, I had a Make-A-Wish girl who had cancer, okay? So what’s the night that I turned heel? What did I do? Do you remember? I wrestled Hacksaw…what did Hacksaw come back from? Thank you very much.
So what affect do you think I had on that little girl when I came into that locker room? Whether it was a shoot or whether it was a work or whether I was getting paid millions of dollars, I still got a heart, a big heart. And f–k everybody who can’t see beyond the things that they read because I really don’t care about those people, but I am a really caring person and that tore me apart.”
