It’s been quite the day so far for WWE releases. There have been some that make sense; some were expected, and now there is one that is an outrage.

Earlier today, it was announced that King Barrett, Santino Marella, Cameron, Zeb Colter, and others have been released by the company. Now, another good talent has been cut, and it will leave the masses less informed.

It’s been announced by WWE.com that Damien Sandow has also been released today and has joined the list of released talents.

The following statement has been updated on WWE.com:

“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstars King Barrett, Damien Sandow, Santino Marella, Cameron, Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, El Torito and Zeb Colter as of today, Friday, May 6, 2016. WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors.”

Sandow’s run in WWE was very confusing. He had all the charisma and good wrestling ability to be a strong character on the program. He was a good heel as a singles wrestler and even cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on John Cena at one point.

He had a very good run as one-half of The Rhodes Scholars with Cody Rhodes a few years ago, but it was his success as The Miz’s “stunt double” that got him very over with the WWE Universe.

However, WWE mishandled the booking of that angle and Sandow’s momentum never recovered as his time on WWE television continued to be less often until today’s release.

It’s a case of too much wasted potential. Hopefully, he’ll be able to showcase his charisma and abilities with another promotion very soon.

Do you think WWE made a huge mistake releasing Damien Sandow?
