When AJ Styles debuted with WWE back in January, which seems like a long time ago now, there was a lot of debate about the future of “The Styles Clash” finisher.

Historically, it’s injured some guys and we’ve even seen some instances in WWE where some guys have trouble selling it. Therefore, there was some debate about whether Styles could use the move in WWE.

Apparently, WWE was originally against the use of The Styles Clash when AJ first came to WWE. There were rumors about the move being banned, but he started using it after a few weeks and the issue went away.

As it turns out, Chris Jericho revealed during an appearance on Chael Sonnen’s “You’re Welcome” podcast that he helped AJ get the move “unbanned” with WWE officials. Y2J claimed the following about it below:

“I mean the Styles Clash was banned when he first came in and I kind of helped him unlock that so he could start using it, so all of that stuff, I kind of take an extra special pride in seeing him.”
