If you’re expecting NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura to appear on RAW or Smackdown anytime soon, you may be in for a wait.
Per
TheWrestlingObserverNewsletter, WWE has no plans to bring Nakamura up to the main roster any time soon. Currently, the plan is to keep Nakamura in a similar role to that of Finn Balor. I.e. A star to help keep NXT interest and sell out tours.
Looks like the Nakamura / AJ Styles dream rematch is on-hold for the time being then.
In a recent interview, Styles gave his thoughts on the potential rematch, this time happening on US-soil, saying that for it to happen Nakamura would need to get onto Styles’ level.
“I think Shinsuke Nakamura’s going to have to work his way up to where I am,” said Styles.
“I don’t have to work myself to where he is. I’m the world heavyweight champion. So if he wants a piece of AJ Styles and can find a way of getting onto the Smackdown roster, he can come and get some. It may sound cliché, but he don’t want none. But, would people like to see that matchup? Absolutely. And I would love to give it to them.”
