It’s a different way to go. One of the biggest changes to come out of the 2020 WWE Draft was the split of the New Day. This was something that came out of almost nowhere as the team had been together for over six years and then were suddenly taken apart. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were sent over to Monday Night Raw while Big E. stayed on SmackDown. It turns out that there is a big plan for the moves.
The idea behind the split is to push Big E. After several years of teaming together, WWE is attempting a Big E. singles push, but that is quite the problem when he is still part of the New Day. It might be a little more difficult to get into Big E. trying to break out on his own with the famous team behind him. Splitting him off was the solution to that problem, but there is another problem that WWE has to solve.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the idea of pushing Big E. as a more serious character for his singles run. There is no word on how far WWE is going to go to make him serious or how much of his New Day persona will continue. Big E. has had singles success before, winning both the NXT Title and the Intercontinental Title. His first match as a singles wrestler on SmackDown has yet to be announced.
Big E. can be a singles wrestler. Check out what he has done on his own:
Opinion: This is something where I’m going to have to see how it works because it really could go either way. Big E. has worked as a singles wrestler before but there has been a long and successful gap since he has most recently worked regularly on his own. It has the potential though and that is one of the things that could pay off in a major way. Granted it could also flop, and that’s where WWE should be a little hesitant.
