WWE RUMOR: Two Big NXT Names May Be Called Up In The Draft

Come on up. NXT is a strange kind of wrestling promotion as its main purpose is not so much to make money, but rather to get its wrestlers ready for their future spots on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. It is a pretty cool moment to see someone get the call up, but you never know how well that is going to go once they reach the main roster. We might be ready to ask that question again, and it might have to be twice at once.

The WWE Draft begins later this week and that means we are going to be seeing a lot of changes being made. It does not seem like NXT is going to be gaining any wrestlers over the two nights, but there is the chance that some names could be called up instead. That seems to be the case with a pair of wrestlers and they happen to know each other better than almost anyone else.

According to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae could be called up to the main roster together during the Draft. This comes after the two of them both lost their title shots at Takeover: 31 last Sunday. There is no word on which show they would be on or if the two would be presented as a pair. Gargano has won the NXT Triple Crown and LeRae has challenged for the Women’s Title multiple times.

Opinion: This is something that makes a lot of sense as there is nothing left for Gargano to accomplish in NXT and LeRae is good enough to hang in there on the main roster if she is given a chance. At some point you have to clear some people out of NXT and it makes as much sense as anything else to move out a married couple. Why make them miserable if you don’t have to?
