It was a long time coming. WWE is the biggest and most influential wrestling company in the world. Being part of the roster makes you at least a someone and being featured as a major player means even more. The same is true for NXT, which has become an important part of the company’s presentation. That presentation got a bit smaller today, as a controversial star is now gone.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has released NXT star the Velveteen Dream from his contract. The release comes several months after Dream was accused of sending inappropriate messages to underage fans last year, which was not the first time he was accused of sexual misconduct. WWE said that they investigated the situation and found nothing wrong.
Following the accusations in the spring of 2020, Dream missed about two and a half months of competition before returning to wrestle a handful of matches starting in August. His last match took place on the December 23 NXT. Dream’s release follows a string of releases earlier this week. It is not known if more are coming or if Dream’s is another one of the previous set.
Dream is not exactly a popular name in WWE. Check out something that happened to him:
Opinion: This is kind of a weird situation for me. I understand why Dream was released as there are certain areas you just can’t approach, but what took so long to let him go? He has not wrestled in about five months and there have not been any new accusations, at least not in public. What made WWE wait so long to let him go? Either way, this is probably it for him on the highest levels, despite how talented he really is.
Will Dream ever wrestle at a high level again? Why did WWE wait to release him? Let us know in the comments below.
