We aren’t done yet. There are so many different parts to a wrestling show and a lot of them have nothing to do with the wrestling itself. Wrestlers can only get so far without giving the fans a reason to care about them, as otherwise the wrestling that you see does not have the same kind of impact. This week saw a major title change, but there was a little bit more to the evening.

The main event of this week’s edition of NXT saw Bronson Reed defeat Johnny Gargano to become the new North American Champion. The title win, inside a steel cage in the show’s main event, was the first for Reed in his NXT career. The match had been set up throughout the show, including Reed talking about how this was the biggest moment of his career and an attempt to show that his fourteen year career was worth it. That wasn’t the end of the night for Reed though.

WWE has uploaded a clip from after this week’s edition of NXT went off the air, featuring Reed and his wife in the ring celebrating. Reed addressed the crowd, thanking them for being behind him for years. He also thanked his wife, who supported him throughout his fourteen year career and now it was all worth it. The two then posed on the stage to end the night.

It was a big night. Check out the match, the post match speech and a backstage speech:

Opinion: This really was kind of a special moment as Reed won the title and it felt like it was a big deal. Reed has been built up for a long time now and I could imagine him holding it for a fairly long time. If nothing else, this is going to work for the sake of the Tsunami alone, as Reed has turned it into one of the best looking finishing moves in all of wrestling today.

What did you think of the match? Did NXT sell the emotions well enough? Let us know in the comments below.
