It adds up! WWE has a weird history when it comes to authority figures. While they have been around for well over thirty years now, WWE’s authority figures have gone from little more than figureheads to the centerpieces of the top storylines in the company. Sometimes they are just there to explain things though and that is the case again with a question about the Royal Rumble.
The Royal Rumble is coming up at the end of the month so it is no surprise that so many people are trying to get into the matches already. This has so far included nine men and nine women or just under a third of the sixty participants involved. The process has been a little weird this year though as most of the wrestlers have just been announcing their entries, but some of them have been shot down. So how exactly does this work?
WWE Official Adam Pearce tweeted that the reason for the different rules is that some wrestlers have been allowed the authority to make such an announcement but have not allowed the same for others. Pearce made it clear that he is just enforcing the rules and not making them. This comes shortly after Impact Wrestling’s the Good Brothers questioned the system and declared themselves for the Royal Rumble.
It’s actually pretty simple: Those that have been granted the ability to simply declare entry into the Royal Rumble *by management* are free to do so. Those that haven’t must qualify. I don’t write the rules, I enforce them. ????

This could cut down on some of these. Check out some of the best Royal Rumble surprises:
Opinion: This one made me chuckle as it’s simply saying “we don’t have a rule” and going forward with it. That was kind of obvious the whole time, but it’s nice to see WWE just flat out saying that is what they are doing. It doesn’t need to be anything more than that sometimes and I’m kind of relieved to see WWE going with something that makes such an easy decision.
