WWE Hypes Smackdown World Title Possibilities

You can almost see it from here. Last night at “Elimination Chamber 2017”, Bray Wyatt won the Smackdown World Title by defeating five other competitors to win the show’s namesake match. This sets Wyatt up for a showdown with fellow Wyatt Family member Randy Orton, who won the 2017 Royal Rumble last month.

WWE.com is already looking at the match but brings up the possibility of former champion John Cena having a rematch before we get to Orlando for “Wrestlemania XXXIII”.

“It is, of course, tradition for the Royal Rumble Match winner to take on the champion of their brand at The Grandest Stage of Them All. However, in this case, there are many variables. Will Wyatt and Orton want to face each other at WrestleMania? And will that point become moot if John Cena invokes a rematch clause for the WWE Championship between now and WrestleMania? As Daniel Bryan put perfectly on WWE Network’s Talking Smack, a lot can happen in the seven weeks leading up to WrestleMania.”

It’s not that crazy to suggest Cena will be a factor heading into the biggest show of the year but I can’t imagine Cena will be getting the title back just yet. If nothing else it goes against the recent rumors of the possible upcoming mixed tag at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”. Orton vs. Wyatt has the potential to be something special if they do it right but I don’t know if they’ll make it work properly.
