We have another one. There are a lot of things that comprise WrestleMania weekend and some of them have nothing to do with in-ring wrestling. A lot of the weekend is built around recognizing the past, which includes the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The special event is one of the highlights of the weekend and now we know another name being inducted.
One of the biggest things that WWE has been doing over the last few years is spreading internationally. The company now has an NXT UK and seems interested in an NXT Japan as well. Their international presence goes back decades though and it makes sense to honor some of the wrestlers who helped pave the way for where we are now. That will be the case with this the newest inductee.
During this week’s edition of the Bump, the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith was announced as the newest inductee into the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame Class. Smith wrestled for the company on and off from 1984-2002, winning a variety of titles. His tag team with the Dynamite Kid is widely praised and he won the Intercontinental Title in the main event of Summerslam 1992.
Smith was a big deal in WWE. Check out some of his highlights:
Opinion: This is long overdue as Bulldog really was one of the more important international stars the company has ever seen. He might not have been at the top of the company, but he was someone that could be slotted into a few different places for some positive impacts. Hopefully this leads to the British Bulldogs being inducted, but if they haven’t been by now, it might be a long time. At least Smith is in though, and that’s what matters at the moment.
What is your favorite Smith match? Who should induct him? Let us know in the comments below.
