They have a plan for that. Back in August 2020, Roman Reigns won the WWE Universal Title and has held the championship ever since. That is the kind of reign that you do not see in modern wrestling, or in almost any era of wrestling for that matter. It has turned Reigns into an all time great, but at some point he is going to have to lose the title. Now WWE might have a plan in mind.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE would like to have two World Title matches at WrestleMania 39 in April, though Reigns still holds both the WWE and Universal Titles. However, WWE also does not want Reigns to lose before them, meaning they need a new plan. One idea that WWE could use is to have a match where Reigns loses one of his titles, likely the WWE Title as to keep the Universal Title reign going, without being pinned or made to submit, such as a triple threat or fatal four way. This is not said to be something that WWE is considering at the moment.
The situation w/ the world titles & Roman Reigns is “complex” according to a source. They would like to go into “Mania season” & WrestleMania itself with 2 champions, but they also don’t want Reigns losing AT ALL prior. I’m told HHH & co are open to all things creatively here.

Opinion: At some point, this does need to take place as Reigns can only hold both World Titles for so long without getting rid of one in one way or another. Having him drop one of the titles makes sense, as the Universal Title is the one that matters. There are ways to make this happen and it might make more sense, as the United States Title is only going to mean so much on Monday Night Raw.
What do you think of the idea? When will Reigns lose a title? Let us know in the comments below.
