It’s not the best way to be remembered. We are wrapping up the year 2020 and that is one of the best things that can happen for a lot of people. There have been all kinds of bad things taking place throughout the course of the year and some of them are far worse than others. Several people have passed away this year, with some of them being better known than others. Some of them were from the wrestling world and were acknowledged in a big way.
One of the worst things to take place during the year was the death of several wrestlers. Some of them passed away from various different reasons and every one of them was hard to hear about. Unfortunately the news kept coming throughout the course of the year, all the way up to the very end with Jon Huber passing away just after Christmas. Now that the year is over, a few of the names are getting some extra recognition.
NBC News has released its annual In Memoriam segment, looking back at celebrities who passed away during 2020. Two wrestling names were included on the list, with WWE Hall of Famers Howard Finkel and Rocky Johnson included. Finkel passed away at 69 years old on April 16, following a year of poor health after suffering a stroke in February 2019. Johnson passed away at 75 years old on January 15 due to an issue involving a blood clot.
Opinion: I’m not sure why the two of them were the only wrestling names included on the list but it is better than wrestling receiving no recognition whatsoever. The two of them were both legends in wrestling and it is nice to see them getting some kind of attention like this. It is horrible that they are both gone, but seeing them listed in something like this is a nice little tribute.
