It happens to everyone. As much as many fans (including myself) can take it for granted, wrestling is one of the most difficult forms of entertainment in the world. It is a combination of live theater, athletics, drama and all sorts of other things rolled into one, all without a safety net. Every now and then something goes wrong and it almost went very badly on Monday.
During this week’s Monday Night Raw, the Street Profits and Kevin Owens fought Seth Rollins, Austin Theory and Angel Garza. During the match, Ford tried a running flip dive over the top but missed everyone and landed hard on the floor. His feet hitting the ramp gave an awful thud and it was clear that things did not go right. So what was planned in the first place?
According to Wrestling Observer Live, the spot was botched as Rollins failed to intercept Ford, which would have cut the dive off. With no one cutting off the dive, Ford tried it anyway and no one was prepared to catch him, as no one was expecting him to try the dive. Ford has since responded to the post, showing a video of Mike Tyson saying that he broke his back. There is no word on Ford missing any time from the crash and he did finish the match.
It was a heck of a crash. Check out the crash itself (make sure to have the sound on), plus the video Ford posted:
Opinion: Dang that was a nasty landing and the sound didn’t make it any better. It was clearly miscommunication and it’s a good thing that Ford seems to be ok after such a nasty looking crash. You never can tell with something like that and there is no way to fake a landing like that. At least he’s able to joke about it and finished the match, because dang that looked horrible at the time.
What did you think of the crash? How long will the Street Profits hold the Raw Tag Team Titles? Let us know in the comments below.
