Records are made to be broken. WWE has been running major events for a very long time now and that will continue to be the case for several years to come. After nearly forty years of pay per view events, WWE is running out of ideas, but there are still some things that they have not done very often. This includes not running many outside of the United States, though that will change this year, and in a record setting way.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, September’s Clash At The Castle event in Cardiff, Wales has sold about 40,000 tickets so far. A sellout of the stadium will be about 69,000 fans and if that takes place, as it should, the event will be the largest non-WrestleMania gate in wrestling history, as well as beating most WrestleManias. No matches have been announced for the card so far.
Opinion: This is one of those things that WWE can do like no one else, as they are basically getting a WrestleMania sized event for a show that probably won’t be anywhere close to the level of importance. Hopefully the show does sell out and WWE gets to go international even more often, because this is something that can do WWE a lot of good for the sake of new markets.
