Consider it advanced coaching. This week marked the 25th anniversary of Triple H debuting with WWE. That is something you don’t see happen very often in WWE and someone with the resume and influence that Triple H has deserves such attention. It has also caused WWE to look at some of Triple H’s work more closely, which was used as a special teaching moment for one of WWE’s coaches.
One of Triple H’s biggest accomplishments has been his work with NXT. The promotion has gone from little more than additional programming that aired on WWE’s website to a juggernaut which has seen a title defended at WrestleMania. It has its own set of stars and even legends, one of whom got to look back at a classic Triple H match with one of Triple H’s biggest rivals watching along with him.
WWE has uploaded a video to its YouTube page showing Shawn Michaels and Tommaso Ciampa watching Triple H vs. Michaels for the World Heavyweight Championship from the December 29, 2003 Monday Night Raw. The two break the match down and offer some insight into the thinking behind the match. Ciampa is a former NXT Champion and Michaels is currently an NXT coach.
This was pretty awesome. Check out the breakdown of a great match:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing I would love to see more of from WWE. They have such a huge catalog of wrestling and all kinds of people who can show you different things about it. Why not let us hear different people giving us different perspectives on so many of their classic matches? That’s an easy Network series as it consists of people watching a match and some editing. How hard would that be?
Do you like this concept? Who else would you like to see do something similar? Let us know in the comments below.
