He has the stroke. There are a lot of people with high reputations in professional wresting and Paul Heyman is near the top of the list. Through his work in ECW and various other promotions, Heyman has built up a reputation as being someone with an amazing eye for talent. While that has worked well in some cases, there have been instances where it just didn’t work. Now, we might have another test subject.

Last year, Heyman was named the Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, giving him significant control over the show. This also allowed him to have a big hand in picking which wrestlers were given pushes on the show. There have been successes and failures during this time, but it is always interesting to see who has caught Heyman’s eye. Now we know who is next on his list.

According to Sportskeeda’s Dropkick DiSKussions podcast, Apollo Crews is Heyman’s latest project and has been receiving more television time on Monday Night Raw as a result. Since WrestleMania 36, Crews had a long television match against Aleister Black and has qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match. It is not clear what WWE has planned for Crews in the future, but he is likely in the show’s future plans.

It was an interesting show. Check out the full podcast, plus Crews’ recent work:

Opinion: Crews is a case where you can see all of the positives but he doesn’t have the best track record so far. That being said, he has never had any chance to grow as a character and has yet to have any significant story in his four years on the main roster. Heyman would know how to change that, but it is something that has only worked at times before. Maybe Crews will be different and I can understand why he’s worth a shot.

What do you think of Crews? Can WWE turn him into something big? Let us know in the comments below.
