He’s loyal to his bets. For all intent and purpose, John Cena is no longer a wrestler. He only wrestles a handful of matches a year but he has become a much more mainstream celebrity in the process. This has allowed him to do a lot more things and become a much better known name. That includes being involved in the world of mainstream sports, which is where Cena became involved in a cool story.
This is an awesome idea. Check out the setup to the whole idea:
The San Diego Padres have posted a video on their Twitter page with Cena talking about a bet he made with a pitching prospect named Logan Allen. The two hit it off but Cena wanted to present the concept of failure to Allen. Therefore, Cena bet Allen $1 that he would not make the major leagues. This week, Allen did in fact make his major league debut and Cena was on hand to pay off the bet.
And of course the literal payoff. Check out Cena showing up in San Diego to present Allen’s winnings:
Opinion: That’s a rather nice story and a great sign of Cena showing that he is willing to admit that he was wrong. Cena and Allen seem to be friendly and that is the kind of thing that you don’t get to see every day. Allen had to work very hard and come a long way to get where he is today and that is something that is worthy of some praise and attention. He earned what he received and this is worth seeing.
