That’s some special treatment. WWE has changed quite a bit this year with all kinds of moves being made up and down the roster. This included dozens of wrestlers and backstage workers being either released or furloughed back in April. Some of these things were more popular than others as some of the releases were not exactly expected. One name who was released got some extra special treatment from the boss himself.
One of the names released from the company was Gerald Brisco, who had been furloughed in April and was officially released in September. The seventy four year old Brisco had been working for WWE in various capacities for thirty six years, including as a talent scout and on-air talent. That is a very long time to work for any given company and the owner of said company wanted to thank him in a special way.
Brisco was recently interviewed by Wrestlinginc.com and revealed that Vince McMahon visited his home in person following his release from the company. WWE was doing a shoot on Brisco’s property in Keystone, Florida and Brisco was present. McMahon himself came to the shoot and spent an hour and a half talking with Brisco at his home. Brisco says this is the kind of thing that McMahon never does, and said that McMahon is nothing like the person you see on television.
Brisco was certainly a unique star. Check out what he did on-screen in WWE:
Opinion: While it was sad to see Brisco let go from the company, it is nice to see that McMahon was a bit humanized and that Brisco seemed ok with the whole thing. At the end of the day though, it does not quite look good to release someone who has been with the company for so long, even if it made business sense. At least Brisco seems to be at peace with it though, which is one of the more important sides of the whole thing.
What do you think of Brisco? Should WWE have released him? Let us know in the comments below.
