She is the future. Back in April, Becky Lynch took a hiatus from WWE as she went onto maternity leave. That is an incredible story, but at the same time, there is a rather large hole to be filled in the Raw women’s division. There are only so many ways to make up for Lynch being gone, though WWE has been trying. They may have a new way to go and it could be an interesting one.
With Lynch vacating the Raw Women’s Title, WWE needed someone else to take the gold. That wound up being Asuka, who won the title in the Money in the Bank ladder match, which was suddenly for the title instead of a title shot. Since Asuka is the champion though, she needs some challengers, and an upcoming challenger could make for a very different kind of story.
I’d call that challenge accepted. Check out how we may know the next #1 contender:
During this week’s Raw Talk, Asuka’s Kabuki Warriors tag partner Kairi Sane said that she wanted a title shot, should Asuka retain against Sasha Banks at Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay per view. Asuka said that she wanted the match as well, though nothing was made official. This comes soon after news that Kairi Sane may be ready to leave WWE, though it is not clear when her final match would take place.
Opinion: That’s one of the few big matches that WWE could throw out there at the moment and if Sane is ready to leave and head back to Japan, there is no better time to do it. Asuka is in bad need of new opponents and while Sane does not seem like a long term challenger, it would make a lot of sense to give her a one off title shot. If nothing else, it’s a good way to go out at Summerslam.
Do you think the match will take place? Would it work as Sane’s final WWE match? Let us know in the comments below.
