It’s for a good cause. Last night, WWE ran one of their most unique shows of the year with “Tribute to the Troops 2017”. This year’s show was help outdoors for the first time in many years, taking place at the Naval Base in San Diego, California. As usual, the show wasn’t the most important thing in the world for storyline purposes but it was a feel good event. So how well did it draw?

According to 411mania.com, this year’s “Tribute to the Troops” special drew 1.401 million viewers. There isn’t anything to directly compare this to, though earlier this week “Monday Night Raw” drew 2.684 million viewers, “Smackdown Live” had 2.481 million, “NXT” on USA drew 841,000 viewers and “Impact Wrestling” drew 161,000 viewers.

Miss the show? Here’s how the main event went down.

Opinion: This is one of those shows where what you see is what you get. You know exactly what you’re getting when you go into the show and there’s nothing wrong with that. It works well with a simple premise: basic, easy wrestling which doesn’t mean anything long term but pays respect to a group of people. The show did well enough and that’s all it needed to do.

What did you think of this year’s show? Was the change in setting a help? Let us know in the comments below.
