Is it really worth it? Independent wrestling has boomed in the last several years with all kinds of companies, including Tommy Dreamer and House of Hardcore, sprouting up and having some nice success. With the rise of streaming video and all kinds of online platforms available to showcase your material, WWE and its cable deal isn’t the only outlet anymore. However, with that success comes a big enemy in WWE and it might want to take a shot at some smaller companies.

In a recent media call, Tommy Dreamer spoke about being offered contracts to sign with WWE. One such contract was around the time he and the Dudley Boyz were feuding with the Wyatt Family 2015. Dreamer turned it down, stating that WWE also asked for him to shut down his House of Hardcore promotion as part of the deal. Here are his comments, with transcription courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com:

“I learned a lot of lessons in my life. Everyone talks about ECW and the greatness that was ECW and it was. But none of us ever knew that Paul Heyman was in bed with WWE the entire time. I had to live with those effects for a long, long time. I would not sign a contract with anyone. WWE asked me to sign a contract when I went back with The Wyatts and they offered me a lot of money to close House Of Hardcore and I refused.”

Here’s the match with the Wyatts, which was a heck of a fight.

Extreme Rules Eight-Man Tag Team Match: Raw, December 14, 2015

Opinion: I’m not a fan of House of Hardcore but I can certainly respect Dreamer for hanging on to his promotion which probably puts food on the tables of a lot of the talent. I can’t imagine House of Hardcore ever becoming a big deal, but just seeing Dreamer give it his time and attention like this is a great sign and something that not a lot of people would do. It’s selfless, which is a word that a lot of people would use to describe Dreamer.

Did Dreamer do the right thing? Will he ever be back in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
