Better late than never. Back at “Bound For Glory 2016”, TNA introduced the Grand Championship, which is a special title designed around a round system and points. The original title match was scheduled to be Drew Galloway vs. Aron Rex but Galloway was injured, meaning Eddie Edwards had to take his place. This week on “Impact Wrestling”, Galloway was back and getting a title shot.
In the third round
of the title match, Galloway defeated Grand Champion Moose to win the title with the Claymore. The match was stopped in the middle of the third round due to a low blow to the champion but Galloway won the match a few seconds after time was started again. Galloway is the third champion, following Rex and Moose.
It’s fairly clear that Galloway was supposed to win the title in the first place but the injury and the wacky taping schedule caused a delay. That’s hardly the worst thing in the world and Galloway is certainly a talent worth waiting for, especially if there’s a long term plan in place for him.
