Thrice as nice. The competition between NXT and AEW Dynamite has been rather entertaining more often than not as the two shows competing against each other has given us some rather entertaining moments on both shows. That has been the case for eight months now and given what was advertised this week, we are in for another big week next time.
One of the more common ways to compare two wrestling companies is by lining up their champions against each other. It’s an idea that makes sense as champions are viewed as the people a promotion wants to showcase as the top of the line. It helps when a champion has a counterpart on the other show. That is the case with NXT and AEW, and now bot of them are putting champions on display.
During this week’s NXT and AEW Dynamite, three Tag Team Title matches were announced for the June 17 editions of the shows. Dynamite will feature the AEW World Tag Team Champions Hangman Page/Kenny Omega defending against the Natural Nightmares. On NXT, the NXT Tag Team Titles will be on the line as Imperium defends against Breezango. In addition, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles will be defended as Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart will receive a shot at whomever leaves Backlash as champions. Current champions Bayley and Sasha Banks are defending against the Iiconics and Nikki Cross/Alexa Bliss.
There could be some gold changing hands. Check out all three current champions:
Opinion: I’d certainly call that a stacked trio of matches and a title change in at least one of them wouldn’t be the biggest surprise. You don’t see too many title changes on free TV (though they do happen) but teasing the possibility is a good way to get people to watch. Just don’t go insane and do them all the time. This works well as a one off though and that’s what they’re going for.
Will there be any title changes? Which do you want to see change hands? Let us know in the comments below.
