The international pitch continues. There are a lot of moving parts in WWWE as their main roster shows are far from the only things that they have going on. With so many pieces to their puzzle, you can only get so far in keeping track of everything taking place. At the same time though, WWE has shown no signs of slowing down with everything that they want to do around the world. Those last three words are what matter the most as WWE seems ready to expand again, even if the other side isn’t so ready.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has attempted to purchase another prominent Japanese wrestling promotion in an attempt to establish NXT Japan. This comes a little over a week after reports that WWE unsuccessfully attempted to purchase Pro Wrestling NOAH for the same reason. The latest set of discussions came to the same result as the company WWE was attempting to purchase turned them down for unknown reasons.

This time around, WWE attempted to purchase the Dragon Gate promotion several months ago, though Dragon Gate was not interested in the move. It is not clear what WWE would have done had they acquired the promotion, though transforming it into NXT Japan was a possibility. Dragon Gate is primarily a junior heavyweight promotion and has featured names Ricochet, Pac, CIMA and Akira Tozawa. There is no word on what WWE will do next in an attempt to establish NXT Japan.

Dragon Gate has made some big stars. Check out some of their bigger moments with familiar stars:

Opinion: I don’t know how well this whole NXT Japan deal is going to go but WWE certainly seems interested in trying something with it. They have gone around the world before with NXT UK, but wrestling in Japan is such a different world and that means that things could go a little bit differently for WWE going forward. I do like the idea of purchasing a promotion rather than starting something from scratch though as you inherit the history and don’t have to do everything off the top of your heads. That’s the kind of thing that can give you a big boost going forward and hopefully it works for them in the end.
