Former WWE Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods is the latest victim of injury, as he suffered a torn achilles at a WWE Live Event in Sydney, Australia. Wood’s injury was non-contact, as he suffered it during an Irish whip to the ropes. He collapsed, was taken backstage, and Big E had to finish the match without his partner.

The New Day member provided an update on the injury, and discussed his timeline for a return (h/t Comicbook).

“Hey, I can’t stop talking because I just got surgery on my Achilles. No clue how long I’ll be out. I’m going to forget that information soon, I’m probably going to forget I made this video because I just woke up from surgery, so that means I’m pumped full of all of the good stuff, but I wanted to update you guys. So, we’ll figure things out, we’re going to go from here. What’s going to happen is, I’m going to go back home, I’m going to feel good for a little while, the pain medicine is going to go away and it’s going to hurt real bad, but I wanted to update you guys rather than you guys reading random stuff on the internet from people who have no clue what’s going on with no first-hand knowledge of what this injury is. So, yeah, catch me on Twitch.”

Woods also posted a video on Twitter showing his bandaged foot, as well as assembling the hands-free crutch he was given during his recovery.

According to PWInsider, Woods will be out anywhere from six months to a year. Unfortunately, this means that Woods will be missing WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Florida.

Woods was a part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at both WrestleMania XXX and 31. At WrestleMania 32, he as a part of The New Day was defeated by the League of Nations trio of Alberto Del Rio, Rusev, and Sheamus.

The New Day were the hosts of WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida, and was unsuccessful in a triple threat match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Usos and the Bludgeon Brothers (who won the match and titles) at WrestleMania 34.

This year, at WrestleMania 35, Woods and Big E accompanied Kofi Kingston to the ring for his match against Daniel Bryan, and celebrated with him when he won the WWE Championship.
