You have to start somewhere. Wednesday was a busy day for WWE as there were several wrestlers released from WWE. In one day, over two dozen wrestlers were let go in one of the busiest days that has ever happened in the history of the company. It changed everything in a hurry, but that wasn’t the only thing that took place on that day, with even the opposite of that taking place later in the day.

NXT is a very different kind of wrestling show from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. The show feels a bit more structured and shows you what can happen when a show is built up rather well. At the same time though, things are in a weird place due to the current travel restrictions placed on the company. That required a change in schedule and it was on display in a big match.

This week’s NXT featured a main event of the Broserweights defending the NXT Tag Team Titles against the Undisputed Era. However, since Pete Dunne was not allowed to leave the United Kingdom, Matt Riddle needed a replacement partner, which wound up being the debuting Timothy Thatcher. This was Thatcher’s first appearance in NXT after being announced as a new signee in February. Thatcher would go on to win the match for his team via submission. There is no word on if he will be a permanent partner for Riddle.

Thatcher made an impact. Check out his match and post show comments:

Opinion: Thatcher’s debut was a surprise and there is nothing wrong with bringing in someone in this kind of a situation. Thatcher is someone who could add a few different things to the show and being Riddle’s long term partner could be one of them. I’m curious to see where this goes but it was nice to see someone getting a chance after so many people lost theirs earlier in the day.

Did you like Thatcher’s debut? What is his ceiling in NXT? Let us know in the comments below.
