The more things change. We’re done with “Monday Night Raw” and “Smackdown Live” but the Superstar Shakeup has (at least) one more potential change. United States Champion Kevin Owens debuted on “Smackdown Live” and brought the title with him. The thing is that title might not be secure from “Monday Night Raw” just yet.
Tonight on “Smackdown Live”, General Manager Daniel Bryan announced that Owens will still defend his title against Chris Jericho at the “Monday Night Raw” exclusive “Payback 2017”. Whoever wins the match will defend the title on “Smackdown Live”. In theory Owens will stay on the show no matter what, meaning only Jericho would be able to change brands.
Opinion: This makes sense, or at least a lot more than having Bray Wyatt show up on his old show less than twenty four hours after being sent to the other one. I doubt Jericho moves to Tuesdays as there’s a good chance he’ll be heading off to perform with Fozzy. That gives Owens a match against new #1 contender AJ Styles and then….maybe a match for the Smackdown World Title?
