The stars are aligning. WWE is obsessive about making their mark in various forms of entertainment. They’ve done all kinds of things over the years and their results have been hit and miss to say the least. Their biggest success has been the lukewarm reception to WWE Studios, though a deal with Netflix could help things out a lot. Now we have some details on where things are going.

WWE.com has announced the details of their first film with Netflix, which will be called the Main Event. The film will include appearances by Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, the Miz and other WWE superstars. The story focuses on an eleven year old who gains powers from a magic mask and tries to become a WWE Superstar. The film will be released on Netflix at some point in 2020.

WWE has made some films before, including this one. Check out the trailer for one of WWE Studios’ films:

Opinion: To say these films haven’t had the best track record is an understatement, though WWE has tended to stay away from films that have to do with wrestling. Hopefully this one works out better than the previous ones, though that has never quite been the case before. If nothing else, putting them on Netflix is a better idea than the direct to video route or the failed theatrical releases.
