It’s kind of hard to blame him. We are in a strange time at the moment and it might not get any more normal for a very long time. The biggest story in the world is of course the Coronavirus and a lot of people are reacting to it in different ways. This includes professional wrestlers, who are all handling it as they see fit. Some of their decisions might not be what the fans prefer, and that is the case with one such star.

WWE has received a lot of attention since the outbreak of the virus as they have not missed a single show, mainly running out of the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This has not been the most well received move as a lot of wrestlers don’t seem thrilled with the idea of making so many trips to the venue. One bigger name star does not like it at all and is simply not going.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sami Zayn has not been attending WWE television tapings due to his own decision. Zayn missed the April 20 SmackDown after having a wisdom tooth removed, though it is not clear if the recovery is why he has not been back since. Zayn is the reigning Intercontinental Champion and most recently appeared at WrestleMania 36 where he retained the title against Daniel Bryan.

Opinion: This is a situation where I can’t blame Zayn for not showing up. I’m not sure if he is worried about his health or something similar, but maybe he just feels like taking a little break. Either way, there is a perfectly valid reason for not going to the shows and WWE isn’t about to do anything in the current environment. At least partially due to this, Zayn could be champion for a good while and that’s not a bad thing.

What do you think of Zayn? How long will he be champion? Let us know in the comments below.
