Well if that’s all you have. We’re about three and a half years into the Roman Reigns Era, where he’s a three time World Champion and yet is still searching for his big moment. That’s not exactly explored territory as for some reason WWE can’t quite figure out the formula to get everything right. With everything else having failed them, it seems that they have a new strategy and it might be something you remember.

You know, because these two are so similar.

Daniel Bryan confronts Roman Reigns: Raw, February 23, 2015

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio by way of Ringsidenews.com, the current plan for Reigns is to have him be presented as Daniel Bryan, with the management of the company holding him down and preventing him from being the champion. Meltzer went on to say that the story is going forward because WWE has nothing else for Reigns to do at the moment and are sticking with the plan, even though “nobody buys it”. Here are the comments:

“They’re trying to tell the story and I can’t believe it because they’ve been trying for a couple of months, but they’re still trying to tell the story that [Roman Reigns] is Daniel Bryan and management is screwing him over and that’s why he’s not the champion. But nobody buys it.”

“They’re trying to figure out a way to get people to cheer him. We’re supposed to think that all these things that happened — the whole thing that they favor Brock Lesnar but it didn’t work. I guess for whatever reason even though it didn’t work nobody has a better idea so that’s what they’re going with.”

Opinion: To say this isn’t a good idea is the understatement of the year. Ignoring the idea that it completely misses everything that got Bryan over in the first place, it’s yet another attempt to put Reigns in a position that the fans don’t want to see him in. It hasn’t worked for years now and it isn’t working now, but this is beyond even WWE’s general levels of bad ideas. Reigns couldn’t be more unlike Bryan if he tried and pushing him in that way will backfire even worse than whatever else they’ve tried before.

Will this work whatsoever? If not this, what will work for Reigns? Let us know in the comments below.
