There’s always room for one more. WWE has a lot of talent on its many rosters, which can become a bit of a problem at times. With so many of them around, there is going to be quite the battle for spots on the cards, especially with television involved. That problem regularly shows itself when there is almost no room to get a lot of the wrestlers on the shows for weeks at a time. Now it might be getting even worse.
One of the best things to happen to NXT and it’s women’s division in particular has been the Mae Young Classic. The tournament has brought in a variety of wrestlers who may be brand new to the entire audience and allow them to showcase their talents on the biggest stage of their careers. That is the kind of attention that you can’t buy and one wrestler may have turned it into the big chance of a long career.
According to So Cal Uncensored, Mercedes Martinez has signed with WWE and she will be reporting to the WWE Performance Center later in January. Martinez has been wrestling since 2000 and appeared in both Mae Young Classics, making it all the way to the semifinals. She has since appeared at All Out as well as on an episode of AEW Dark, though she did not sign with the company.
Martinez did some good things in the Mae Young Classic. Check out some of her better moments:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could be a nice surprise for WWE. Martinez is 39 years old but she has more experience than almost anyone else in the division. She would likely have a trainer’s job waiting for her the second she asked for one and that’s not the worst thing in the world. Hopefully she gets to do whatever she wants as she has more than put in the time and effort to earn it.
How do you see Martinez doing in WWE? Will she be a success on the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
