That could have been different. WrestleMania was one of the most interesting shows in wrestling history, albeit maybe not for the best reasons in the world. It is certainly going to be one of those shows that people talk about for a long time, but I’m not sure how much WWE is going to want to bring it up. Big things did happen on the show, though one of them could have been very different.
One of the bigger moments of WrestleMania saw Braun Strowman defeat Goldberg for the Universal Title. This was something a lot of fans had been waiting to see for a long time and while it might have been in a weird situation and something long overdue, it finally happened. As it turns out though, it was almost something completely different entirely, which could have been interesting as well.
According to Wrestle Talk, Jeff Hardy was considered to get the Universal Title instead of Strowman. It is not clear why Strowman was given the spot over Hardy or what WWE has planned for Hardy in the future. Hardy returned to the ring after nearly a year off of television in March and has only wrestled one match since. Strowman was announced as the replacement for Roman Reigns with no explanation given as to why he was chosen.

Opinion: This is certainly an interesting concept and something I can see WWE considering. That being said, Hardy still has legal issues surrounding him at the moment and he hasn’t exactly been back for very long. Between those issues and the need to see how long his knee will hold up, I can see how he is way too big of a risk. It was an interesting idea, but not something that should have been done.
