That explains a few things. The biggest nights of the wrestling year have come and gone with WrestleMania 36 now having taken place. The show was full one all kinds of big matches and that means there are always going to be questions about whether or not the right decisions were made. That was the case with one of the bigger matches on the card and now we might have some more insight into what happened.

The opening match of WrestleMania 36 Night Two saw Charlotte defeat Rhea Ripley to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. This marked the second title reign for Charlotte, who has dominated several title scenes since being called up to the main roster in June 2015. The title change did not make the most sense to a lot of fans given the circumstances, but there might have been something else to it.

According to PWInsider Elite by way of 411mania.com, Ripley is currently back in Australia due to her work visa expiring. As a result, Ripley will not be able to stay in America for the time being, which likely caused the decision to make her drop the title. Ripley will likely miss several weeks of NXT television and it is not clear when she will be able to return to the company.

At least she went out on a good note. Check out Ripley vs. Charlotte:

Opinion: This does clear a few things up as I was not sure why WWE would choose to go with Charlotte over Ripley in this situation. It makes a lot more sense if Ripley needed to leave the country for a bit, so at least there is a logic to what went on. Ripley can come back to reclaim her title later and it should be a big deal. She has all the necessary toold so hopefully she is back sooner than later.
